Lowpro

"Well, presenting Lowpro´s The Graphic Technolgy:

Lowpro´s graphic technology end up being the combination of 2 technologies.
For over 3 years I tested from , normal paper graphics, to heat   transfers to laser thin pvc printing, policarbonate printing and got   diferent results.
Same thing with the varnish, from insdestructable varnish to one that   wears out to easily, to diferent shades of briliance from mate to glossy   and its effect with the graphic is diferent from them all.

Our favorite and most realistic in our opinion got to be the combo of   Transfer Printing technolgy + our selected 2 component varnish that we   then apply with compressor.

  - varnish wise It allowed us to choose from  diferent gradients of   resistence and briliance, keeping the same interaction with the graphic.   We chose a varnish resistence that allows graphics to be fully seen   until 6 months with normal use and 3 months with hardcore ( daily + out   door use ) use allowing a realistic wearing out that is proportional to the use that the person gives the board.

-2 component laquer is were its at BUT i advise that if people will try   it get a lot of advise from people that know how to handle it because   its very dangerous to apply the components and calibrate them, but once   you get it you get the exact desired result.

- printing wise, transfer printing technology is basicaly the printing of the ink alone.
you can have heat transfer that presses the printed ink graphic into  the  wood, to normal sticker transfer, to cold transfer, to print  transfer  directly projected in the wood, to serigraphed transfer.
Check the world of transfer printing on google or pm me if you want to know more.

  - To combine with our varnish, we chose ink plastified transfer   trechnology for the fact that it gives the best printing possible on all   transfer methods - full vectorial 300dpi (or more) print ( heat   transfers and suffer from cmyk colour doted construction as in full spot   of color you see the Cyan Magenta Yellow K(black) dots. With Lowpros   ink plastified transfer method we get a full color with no interruptions on any color spot in a drawing.

This is the most realistic graphic effect we found.       "

FBTV Company Interview - Yellowood

Hello Philippe! Tell us about who you are, where you from and whats your daily business.

- Hello Martin, my name is Philippe De Goyri i'm from Porto, Portugal and i'm the mastermind and deckmaker behind Yellowood.
Well  on my daily business after breakfast i go and change Yw molds :D after  that i check my e-mails and work all day in Yw related stuff and i also  Fingerboard during the day.

How do you get in touch with fingerboarding?

-  I started skateboarding at the age of 8 now i'm 32 so i grow up on 4  wheels :D when i was arround 10/12 i got a Precision board keychain and  soon after i made my 1st atempt to build a wood deck looool i guess i  always belived a fingerboard deck should
be  made out of wood :) but after that i only get in touch again with  Fingerboarding in June of 2007 when Ricardo joined the Advertising  agency i was working on.

How do you get your company started?

- When  i meet Ricardo i had on my desktop a plastic fingerboard i got from  macdonalds and he told me that people did real tricks on it, i got  immediately stocked and checked it on youtube, after that i got  addicted.. we went and buy 2 tech decks together
and  next week i got a closeup.. that was my first wood deck. From that to  making my own decks was a small step, those days were pretty exciting  everything was new for me and happening so fast :) The name Yellowood  came to my mind because
some  years before i drawed the yellow pages logo on a blank skateboard, i  remembered that and now it made even more sense on a fingerboard because  of the fingers on the book, so i painted my closeup in yellow and made  the logo on it, watching it
the  name poped in my head Yellow wood, than as a designer i combined the 2  words to make a brand and voila Yellowood and the 1st Portuguese wood  deck were born :)

What plans do you got for 2011?

- 2011  is going to a big year for us we are making a lot of backstage work, we  have a new place with Yellowood, Ytrucks and Oak wheels all working  together, called Ystore Terrace this place will also be the 1st  Portuguese Fingerboard shop with space for parks and events, it will be a  huge push forward in our scene and we are very commited into this  project.

Is this your daytime job?

- Yes, daytime and most of the time nightime also.. i'm always working on new ideas, you never know when they come :D

Whats your current setup? NOTE: If possible send me a picture: fingerboardTV@gmx.de

- Yellowood Z2 A6
Ytrucks X3
Oak Yellow
Slimtape

Do you have any "sneak-preview" for 2011?

- We  have just launched the new Z2 shape which is a big improvement for us,  the decks gained a lot of personality and the ride is a lot more real,  we will also lunch some new graphics around the middle of the year and  for now that it ;)

Which fingerboard experience you liked the most (contest/jam/session)?

- In  Portugal i loved all fingaspot events because i was evolved in them and  they were big events for our scene, the house and atmosphere were  pretty unique.
Internacional  i liked FF13 after contest days, hanging at Wunsidel was really good,  althogh i broke my elbow there, those were some nice days ;)

And finally do you want to thank someone?

-  I want to thank my family for supporting and helping me with my  lifestyle option, the people that support Yellowood, my riders and i  want to thank skateboarding and fingerboarding for existing... life's a  lot more fun with them :D
And ofcourse you for this interview ;)

Fingerboard for life.
Philippe De Goyri

THX Philippe!
